Settings that matter early

  • Rewind length — how much rolling history the app keeps (default 90s). Longer remembers more; shorter is lighter on disk and memory.
  • Auto-arm takes — takes without a count-in start at your first sound instead of the button press. On by default.
  • Auto-pan loop layers — each looper pass lands at a new stereo position. On by default.
  • Rerack bank after deleting a clip — closes keyboard-pad gaps when a clip moves to Trash. On by default; turn it off to preserve positions.
  • Input device / camera — both live in the sidebar’s Input popover, not buried in settings.

Settings are layered: global defaults, with per-project overrides where a project needs to differ. The Settings window has one Global / Project switch that governs everything in it.

Camera cutouts and clone performances

In the Capture Editor, use a camera lane’s BG button to remove its background without first rendering that take into a separate clip. The effect is local to the capture and is reflected in preview and the final render.

For a looper performance with two or more camera passes, open More actions → Clone composite. The editor aligns the performers and places their cutouts over one clean plate. Enabling camera input keeps its live monitor visible on the canvas even while idle. Use the floating Clean plate action on that preview; a four-second countdown gives you time to leave the frame before the plate is saved for that camera and resolution. The same preview flows into Take and looper monitoring. Clone composite is unavailable until a plate exists. Later sessions reuse it automatically. Replace or clear it whenever the camera moves.

FAQ

What Macs does it run on? Modern macOS. Apple Silicon gets GPU-accelerated stem separation; Intel Macs fall back to CPU (slower, same results).

Can I use my own footage? Anything that plays on your Mac — video files, audio files, screen recordings, your webcam. That’s the point.

Is my media uploaded anywhere? No. Import, analysis, stem separation, and rendering all happen on your machine.

What about copyright? The app is a tool; what you make with it is up to you. Sampling other people’s work for publication has the same legal contours it’s always had — when in doubt, clear it or keep it in the practice room.

Where do my files live? In a project library under your user Library folder. Every clip and render can be revealed in Finder from the app.

MIDI controller recommendations? Anything class-compliant with pads works. A 4×4 pad grid maps naturally to a quarter of the keyboard grid; a 25-key mini keyboard covers more pads.
