FAQ

Short answers.

What Macs does it run on? Modern macOS. Apple Silicon gets GPU-accelerated stem separation; Intel Macs fall back to CPU — slower, same results.

Can I use my own footage? Anything that plays on your Mac: video files, audio files, screen recordings, your webcam. That’s the point.

Is my media uploaded anywhere? No. Import, analysis, stem separation, and rendering all happen on your machine.

Why does the app listen on my local network? So OBS can pull preview output frames. Those endpoints are read-only; every control, mutation, private media request, and progress connection requires a token that only the app holds.

What about copyright? The app is a tool; what you make with it is up to you. Sampling other people’s work for publication has the same legal contours it’s always had — when in doubt, clear it or keep it in the practice room.

Where do my files live? In a project library under your user Library folder, unless you’ve moved the media root in Settings → Storage. Every clip and render can be revealed in Finder from the app.

I deleted something. Is it gone? Probably not. Clips go to the Trash bank (bank 0) rather than being destroyed. Capture sessions are only removed by an explicit Delete. Rewinds are retained automatically and searchable in the material library.

MIDI controller recommendations? Anything class-compliant with pads works. A 4×4 pad grid maps naturally to a quarter of the keyboard grid; a 25-key mini keyboard covers more pads. A footswitch that sends a note is worth having for the looper.

Why won’t a session become a Section? Only a finished, non-degraded looper session can. A session still staging hasn’t claimed to be whole, and a degraded one names media that’s no longer there. The card explains which case you’re in and what to do about it.

Can I use an existing chop as a Section? Yes — drag it from the clip list onto the Song Board, or straight into the Roadmap. You don’t need a looper session to start a song. Press Continue afterwards to take it into the live looper and overdub on it.

I dragged the same chop in twice and got two Sections. Then the chop changed between the two drags. A drop freezes the chop as it sounded at that moment, so an edited chop is new material and gets its own card; the first Section is deliberately left alone, because a Roadmap or a recorded Run naming it has to keep meaning what it meant. Drag an unchanged chop in again and you get a second Roadmap step, not a second card.

I re-cut a chop and its Section didn’t change. That’s the same rule, and it’s on purpose. A Section keeps its own copy of the media, so re-cutting or even deleting the chop leaves the Section playing what you dropped in. Drag the new version in to get a Section of it.

A Section card says “Source changed”. Its underlying recording moved after being frozen. Use Re-freeze at current version in the card’s ⋯ menu to repoint it at the current state.

Can I get a Section onto a pad? Yes, through Edit: the fork’s Versions rack is where clips get made. There’s no direct card action for it, because that would mean opening the frozen parent for writing.
